Official Rules of the “Game Jam Universitar” Event 2026

The event is open to individuals who are at least 18 years old and are enrolled as students at one of the following universities: Politehnica Timișoara, Politehnica Bucharest, the National University of Theatre and Film, the West University of Timișoara, the National University of Arts, and Babeș-Bolyai University.

  • Only participants who register by March 30, 2026, at 23:00 and are accepted may take part in the event.
  • Registrations are individual, and each participant will be assigned to a team based on the information provided in the registration form.
  • The event will begin Monday, April 20, 2026, and will end Sunday, April 26, 2026.
  • Participant registrations are open until March 30, 2026, at 23:00.
    Participants register individually, and the teams formed will be announced between April 13–17, 2026.
  • The final submission of the game and required materials must be completed by April 26, 2026, at 15:00.
  • The award ceremony will take place online. The exact date and time will be announced later.
  • Participating teams must develop their games within the time frame April 20–26, 2026.

Participants must have an itch.io account itch.io.

At the end of the event, the game build must meet the following requirements:

  • The game must be functional (no crashes, walkthrough breakers, or any issues that block the player) and must not have missing components (art, sound, etc.).
  • The game must provide at least 4 minutes of gameplay.
  • Along with the build, participants must submit a 45-second gameplay video.
  • Games must be playable on Android or PC.
  • Games for iPhone will not be accepted, as most participants, jury members, and organizers do not have compatible devices for testing and evaluation.

Games created during the “Game Jam Universitar 2026” event belong entirely to their creators.
The creators are responsible for any legal issues related to the game, such as the unauthorized use of assets during development.

  • Only games that can be launched successfully will enter the judging process, through which the winners will be determined.
  • Participants may use external plugins or assets, but they must include a text file in the game folder listing, by name and link, all plugins and assets used, as well as the pages where they were obtained.

Evaluation Criteria:

  1. Game Design (0-5)
    0 — The game creates no engagement at all
    5 — The game creates the highest level of engagement among all submitted games
  2. Programming Effort & Functionality (0-5)
    0 — The game cannot be launched
    5 — The game has the fewest bugs and is the most technically complex compared to all other submitted games
  3. Graphics (0-5)
    0 — No visible effort has been made on the visual side of the game
    5 — The game shows the greatest graphical effort and is the most visually appealing among all submitted games
  4. Theme Adherence (0-5)
    0 — The game does not follow the theme at all
    5 — The game is strongly related to the theme and integrates it clearly into the gameplay
